After founding the Jazz Minors in 1973, Rusty's musicianship grew in a variety of directions. Modern jazz, arranging, composition and conducting all took a turn as his focus but it was film and television scoring that finally took center stage.

After winning the Jerry Goldsmith award for media composition, Rusty completed his studies in Conducting and Film Scoring at UCLA. Since that time Rusty scored many films, commercials, documentaries, TV pilots and cartoons.

Most recently, Rusty concluded a 9 year stint with The Side Street Strutters and his own band, The River Rascals, at Disneyland.

His new Disney assignment is leading The Jambalaya Jazz Band. This group lives at Disneyland's New Orleans Square 7 days a week and is made up of a rotating cast of 13 musicians.

Rusty is the only instructor that has taught at every STJS summer jazz camp and was a featured guest artist at the 2005 Sacramento Jubilee.
